Community Links | 2019
Community Links celebrated the end of year with a collaborative painting session then enjoyed a delicious luncheon in Bowral.
The women referenced a still life which was set up for them then painted for fifteen minutes. The surprise came when they were asked to take their paint palette and move along to the next canvas. Each participant then continued painting on every ones canvas for ten minutes until they circled back to their original canvas. That was another great surprise - to see what had devolped on their oeriginal peice. The end result was a joyful, bright painting. Well done everyone!
CBRE | 2019
CBRE, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane had time out from their conference to enjoy a session of collaborative drawing and painting.
Russell Reynolds Associates | 2018
Collaborative painting for team building was first on the agenda when Russell Reynolds Associates from Melbourne and Sydney chose Bowral for their December 2018 conference. The conference was held at Gibraltar Hotel in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales.
To kick start their conference we presented a team building activity for forty people. They painted together in teams of five. During the exercise, the teams moved and changed around. At the end of two hours, the canvases were completed and put together like a large jigsaw puzzle.
The theme of the painting was aspire, inspire, teamwork, confidence and future focus.
The participants met new people, worked with colleagues in a different mode, were reacquainted with old colleagues and painted, which most hadn’t done for many years - so that was fun!
As part of the Michael Tynan Memorial Challenge to raise funds for the St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF), we provided a painting challenge for participants when they visited the Gibraltar Hotel in Bowral as part of their fundraising event.
SSMRF is an independent charity which proudly supports medical research in the Southern region of Sydney with global impact. This year the Michael Tynan Memorial Challenge MTMC , one day event of walking, paddling and driving or scooting from Wollongong to Sydney to help raise much needed funds for the SSMRF and University of Wollongong medical research.
The Driving Challenge started from UOW Innovation Campus then visited various areas areas around the Illawarra, Bowral and Sutherland Shire region before concluding at Rydges Cronulla.
In Bowral the participants convened at the Gibraltar Hotel for a painting session by Tracey and her team, and wine tasting by highlands winery Cherry Tree Hill wines.
At the Interchange Illawarra Staff Day, twelve Interchange employees took a break from their intense training day, and joined us for a collaborative painting session.
The employees were formed into four teams and were allocated a quarter of a larger image to paint on their canvas. At the end of the painting session the four canvases were joined together to reveal the whole painting. After the first fifteen minutes, individuals were rotated to form new teams and this was repeated a couple of times.
The rationale for working this way is to recreate workplace situations such as:
working collaboratively for positive outcomes
dealing with changes in staff and policies
trusting colleagues in the decisions they make
working on parts of a larger project
solving problems in the workplace
As problems arose the teams worked together to solve any issues. We concluded with a brief overview of the similarities within the workplace that had occurred during the painting session. The team has a tangible memento, the painting, to take back to their office as a permanent reminder of the training day.
We provided painting for relaxation for Carers ACT on a sunny Saturday in September. The sun shone, blossoms bloomed and the wonderful carers of Canberra spent three hours relaxing and painting. It was time-out for themselves to recharge the batteries.
A carer is someone who helps and supports a family member or friend who needs assistance. This may be a frail older person, an adult or child with a disability, a person with a chronic or mental illness or someone recovering after a long illness or accident.
Some are full-time carers while others balance both a job and caring responsibilities. Most live with the person they care for although some live nearby or are caring from a distance.
